Icom Innovation on Display at Hamvention® 2023
KIRKLAND, Wash. (May 2023) – It’s that time of year! From May 19 – 21, thousands of ham radio enthusiasts will come together again for the world’s largest amateur event, Hamvention®, in Xenia, OH. This year’s theme captures the event’s spirit in one word –– Innovation. Stop by booth 2608 (Building 2) to see Icom’s own innovations on display, including our newest SHF all-mode mobile, the IC-905, and attendees can catch a sneak peek of our ID-50A* prototype.
The IC-905 SHF all-mode rig covers 2m / 70 cm / 1.2 GHz / 2.4 GHz / 5.6 GHz bands and, with the optional CX-10G transverter, 10 GHz. This portable also has a few industry-firsts under its belt. The IC-905 is the first radio to support the five major global bands from VHF to SHF; it’s the first PoE-powered RF module designed to be at the base of the antenna, eliminating signal loss; and is compatible with Amateur TV in analog FM mode.
Enhance your QSO experience with Icom’s newest handheld, the ID-50A. This compact, entry-level DSTAR dual-bander, 2m/70cm, is a perfect introduction to the world of ham radio operation. Beginners will love the easy D-STAR settings, band scope with waterfall display, Share Picture function (requires STID50A/ W app), Dualwatch, and more. Optional accessories are also compatible with the ID-52A, ID-51A, and ID-31A.
If you’re looking to get more acquainted with amateur equipment, check out the Special Event Station (W8BI; Tesla Building E2, booths 2706 – 2707). Visitors can see Icom’s popular base stations in action and contact friends at home or someone new on our
IC-7300, IC-7610, IC-9700, and IC-705.
