CAP Compliant
Department of Homeland Security’s P25 Compliance Assessment Program (DHS P25 CAP) purpose is to provide emergency response agencies with trusted communications equipment that meet specific standards for performance, conformance, and interoperability among different manufacturers’ products.
The DHS P25 CAP is a voluntary program that demonstrates a supplier's adherence to P25 standards for performance and interoperability. Many public safety agencies receiving federal grant money for P25 equipment are required to purchase CAP compliant products.
The DHS P25 CAP requires equipment suppliers to submit their products to DHS test laboratories for a stringent assessment process. Suppliers must also release a Supplier's Declaration of Compliance (SDoC) and a summary test report (STR) upon request. Certification and declaration details are posted to the DHS Responder Knowledge Base (RKB) website for public safety agencies to easily identify DHS P25 CAP compliant manufacturers.
Icom’s F9011, F9511, F7000 & F7500 series radios are now DHS P25 CAP approved and listed on the DHS website. They are also fully backwards compatible with conventional analog legacy equipment integrated into the fleet to prepare for future upgrades. The DHS website also includes lots of other information on the DHS P25 CAP program.
